In the leadup to the UK general election, there has been increasing talk of a 'deal’ being done between Greece and the British Museum over the Parthenon Sculptures in the likely event that the Rishi Sunak-led Conservative Government is ousted.
Greece presented its case for the return of the Parthenon Sculptures at a session of an UNESCO committee that met in Paris on 29-31 May, the Culture Ministry said on Saturday.
The sources said that Gerapetritis highlighted the disagreement of principle between the two countries in terms of the return of the Parthenon Sculptures to Greece.
