Paris, July 28, 2024 – Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he watched the Greek gymnastics champion Lefteris Petrounias compete. During his visit, Mitsotakis also met with U.S. First Lady Jill Biden, exchanging warm greetings in the stands.
The conference, which involves heads of state and government from the European Union, aims to promote a common understanding of the framework for achieving peace and defining a roadmap for the future peace process.
The Greek government will not seek ratification of the three cooperation memorandums signed with North Macedonia, concerning issues such as its EU accession process, until Skopje fully complies with the Prespa Agreement signed in 2018, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated on Wednesday.
With Europe facing complex issues such as defence policy, border security, and economic competitiveness, Mitsotakis underscored the importance of Greek engagement in European forums to assert the country's interests effectively.
Some 360 Greek and Serbian business owners participated in a Serbian-Greek business forum held on the sidelines of the Greek prime minister's visit to Serbia on Monday.
Gelsinger, Porat and Brittin congratulated the prime minister on his re-election, while stressing the importance of political stability in an environment marked by global uncertainty and "opacity" regarding the future.
The prime minister said that defence against the climate crisis is a global issue, that the new conditions exceed the resilience of the infrastructure that all countries had until now, and that it is the duty of politics to work out new response measures.
Mitsotakis noted that "we welcome the 50th anniversary without any party hijackings that insult it, diminishing its stature. And we keep its regenerative spirit active in the new conditions."
